The Kitchen Workflow: Creating Harmony in Small Storage Spaces

The Kitchen Workflow

1. Start Small: Using What You Already Have

When I began organizing my kitchen, I wondered whether I needed to buy new storage solutions. Instead, I decided to repurpose items I already had at home.

With a bit of creativity, even small items can be transformed into effective storage tools. This allows essential objects to be easily accessible while keeping the kitchen neat and functional.

2. Sliding Shelves for Deep Cabinet Access

Installing sliding shelves allowed me to reach items stored at the back of cabinets effortlessly. This simple addition makes daily kitchen tasks more efficient and convenient.

3. Expanding Organization Beyond the Under-Sink Cabinet

As the project progressed, the scope naturally expanded. I began with tea bags, coffee, and loose-leaf teas, creating dedicated zones for each item.

4. Improving Cooking Workflow

To streamline cooking, I moved grains, spices, and powdered ingredients from the dish cabinet to a drawer closer to the cooking area.

5. Labeling for Easy Management

While reorganizing, I labeled containers with expiration dates and important information. This step ensures that ingredients remain fresh, safe, and easy to track.

6. Vertical Plate Storage

Previously, I stacked plates, which often caused chips or scratches, and heavy stacks made it difficult to access individual plates.

Now, plates are stored vertically, making it easy to pick exactly what is needed. Plates are also placed on reachable shelves according to workflow, improving efficiency.

7. Frying Pan Organization

Stacked frying pans were cumbersome to access. I purchased a pan organizer with adjustable width and non-slip base, allowing thick pans to be stored neatly and safely.

8. Reclaiming Kitchen Space

By bringing order to previously chaotic areas, storage and cooking became much easier. The time once wasted searching for items has been reclaimed, creating a space where I can fully focus on cooking and kitchen activities.

This is not a task for tomorrow — it is something you can start today. I encourage you to experience the benefits of small, thoughtful kitchen organization.
